document version 2

This is an example application of DLL-plugins.
The template can help you begin your own MERVBot project.

To make this source code generate elim.dll,
1) Extract src.zip (the latest MERVBot source code) to this folder.
2) Enter the /default folder
3) Double-click default.vcproj or default.dsw and compile

IMPORTANT: the MERVBot source code must be in the folder above your bot project! (step 1, above)

Here's the /default directory layout:
../default : Folder with MERVBot source code
/default : Folder with elim.dll source code
/default/spawn.cpp : Responses to in-game events such as kills
/default/spawn.h : Spawn.cpp declarations
/default/commands.cpp : Responses to !commands
/default/default.dsw : Visual Studio 6.0 project workspace
/default/default.vcproj: Visual Studio 7.0 project workspace
/default/readme.txt : Template for DLL-plugin documentation

Idiot's Guide to Making Your Own DLL Plugin for MERVBot

--We are going to use an existing DLL's source code to practice.

--Follow These Steps:

1) Make an Empty Folder.
2) Put the MERVBot Source code ( all those .cpp and .h files ) in that folder.

3) Pause...take a deep breath...make sure you understand everything so far.

4) Make another Empty Folder inside the one with the MERVBot Source code.
5) Put the spawn.cpp spawn.h and command.cpp files from DEFAULT in this folder.

--IMPORTANT: the MERVBot source code must be in the first folder!!

--After you have successfully completed first 5 steps. Go down.

--Now you need a program called Microsoft Visual Studios 6.0 or 7.0 to "compile" your project.

1) Start Visual Studios 6.0

2) Click the Drop Down Menu labbled "File" at the top left of your screen

3) Click "New"

4) On the next screen that comes up, choose from the Project tab, then Win32 Dynamic-Link Library

5) Select the FIRST FOLDER WE CREATED as the base folder

6) Name your project "PRAC", this name will be the name of a new folder
inside of the MERVBot source folder. Click OK

7) Choose to create an "Empty DLL project"

8) Click "Finish"

9) Click the Drop Down Menu labbled "Project"

10) Click "Add To Project Files"

11) Add the files that you put in the SECOND FOLDER WE MADE

12) Click the Drop Down Menu labelled "Build"

13) Click "Build (dll name)" - where the (dll name) is the PRAC, if you refer back to step 6) you were
told to name your file "PRAC"

14) Go into your SECOND FOLDER and look for a folder named "Debug"

15) Your new DLL will be in that folder.
